Jones was the favourite to win gold in the Under-20 Girls’ Long Jump and she duly delivered with a big leap of 6.41 metres. She was the only athlete to go beyond the six-metre mark, with Jamaica’s Annastacia Forrester taking second place with 5.90 metres. Panama’s Nathalee Aranda was third with 5.82 metres.
At the end of the first two days of competition, Barbados was sixth in the medal standing with seven medals – three gold, one silver and three bronze.
