13 Things to Do in the Month of April

The month of April fea­tures sev­eral Musi­cal events to look for­ward to over the course of its 30 days. In addi­tion to these musi­cal events, there will be many sports events for the sports enthu­si­asts. Essen­tially, there is some­thing for every­one. Here are 13 things to look for­ward this month:

barbados reggae11. Dig­i­cel Bar­ba­dos Reg­gae Fes­ti­val 2016 –will be held form April 24th til May 1st fea­tur­ing events such as the Reg­gae Beach Party on Reg­gae Island, the Vin­tage Reg­gae Show and Dance at Kens­ing­ton Oval, the Reg­gae Party Cruise on the Jolly Roger and the finale Reg­gae on the Hill at Far­ley Hill. There will also be per­for­mances from Alka­line, Ernie Smith and many more.
2. Flavours of Bar­ba­dos Din­ner and Cabaret Show at The Sea Rocks Dome – Every Tues­day night in April, come out to Sea Rocks Dome, Maxwell Coast Road, Christ Church to wit­ness an excit­ing din­ner show and dance extrav­a­ganza. The fee is all inclu­sive, cov­er­ing trans­porta­tion, the din­ner show and drinks. It is an event suit­able for all ages.
3. I-​Queen Arts and Music Fes­ti­val – this roots/​reggae fes­ti­val will fea­ture 20 live musi­cal per­for­mances from local, regional and inter­na­tional root/​reggae artists over a two-​day period April 2nd and 3rd, along with other cul­tural demon­stra­tions. The fes­ti­val will also fea­ture a cul­ture mar­ket, where patrons can pur­chase var­i­ous arts and crafts, beauty and well­ness prod­ucts and food.
4. Oper­a­tion Triple Threat: Into The Woods – This musi­cal adap­ta­tion from the Book “Into the Woods” by James Lap­ine, will be held at the Frank Col­ly­more Hall on April 8th, 9th and 10th. Per­sons must be seated 15 min­utes before show times (approx­i­mately at 11:45am and 6:45 pm for the 12pm and 7pm shows).
Racing cars 5. Motor Sport — Race Meet­ing No 2: Clash of Cham­pi­ons Race Meet – round 2 of the 2016 Cham­pi­onship Series fea­tures Race Meet­ing #2 at the world renowned Bushy Park Track, St. Philip. The meet starts at 10am.
6. His­toric Gar­ri­son Night Tour – armed with a flash­light, patrons will expe­ri­ence sev­eral short drams fea­tur­ing mur­der mys­ter­ies such as the exe­cu­tion of a West India Reg­i­ment sol­dier and the unsolved John His­lop mur­der of 1809.
7. Spar­tan Fight­ing Cham­pi­onship — First Blood – this inau­gural event’s pre­mier attrac­tion is the Mid­dleweight Cham­pi­onship Fight between Stu­art and Jones II. There will be other fights on the night as well, fea­tur­ing fight­ers from Trinidad and St. Lucia.
Golf-SOBERS8. Sir Garry Sobers Golf Cham­pi­onshipsspan­ning 4 days from late April to early May, this event fea­tures a 72-​hole stroke play com­pe­ti­tion, with many prizes to be won over the course of the Cham­pi­onships. This is the most antic­i­pat­ing event for the golf calendar.
9. Surfer of The Year Series Cham­pi­onships – this event will be held at Brandon’s beach and will fea­ture sev­eral divi­sions from Under 10 to adults.
10. Caribbean Buf­fet and Floor Show at Lanterns by the Sea – fea­tur­ing a buf­fet of Caribbean delights and a floor show with stilt walk­ers, fire eaters and the Bar­ba­dos Tuk Band, this is a “do not miss expe­ri­ence” Thurs­day nights in April at the Bougainvil­lea Beach Resort, Maxwell Coast Road, Christ Church.

11. Flame Gospel Music Awards 2016 – this award show hon­ors the excel­lence of Bar­ba­dos Gospel Artistes in the areas of music, drama and dance. Addi­tion­ally, the show will also fea­ture live per­for­mances from artistes such as Promise, Nee­sha Woodz and Keann Wal­ters.
12. St. Nicholas Abbey Her­itage TourSt. Nicholas Abbey – Tour the mar­velous grounds of the his­toric St. Nicholas Abbey show­cas­ing antiques and arti­facts with 350 years of rich and col­or­ful his­tor­i­cal value. Sam­ple their sig­na­ture St. Nicholas Abbey 10 and 15 year old rum, and enjoy steel pan enter­tain­ment, before head­ing over to the Ter­race Café for lunch.
Multi-National-Fair2016 13. Multi National Women’s Fair – an inter­ac­tive event for locals and vis­i­tors alike held at Foursquare Rum Dis­tillery in St Phillip, this multi-​national fair will focus on areas such as Food & Agri­cul­ture, Chil­dren, Art & Enter­tain­ment, Busi­ness, Fit­ness, Health and Well Being, Recy­cling and Com­mu­nity Ser­vice, all ded­i­cated to show the com­mu­nity regard­ing sus­tain­able devel­op­ment, social jus­tice and spir­i­tual well-​being.

The month of April will be a month filled with of fun, excite­ment and enter­tain­ment for the entire family!
