This popular event is perfect for motorsport enthusiasts, and features two main characteristics– Mud and 4x4s!
Hosted by the Barbados Rally Club (BRC), Mud Dog Rally takes place annually, and anyone with a 4×4 jeep or pick-up can compete. This rally evolved from the BRC Safari Championship, an annual off-road competition attracting more than 300 different competitors.
At the BRC Safari Championship the emphasis is placed on the ability of a crew to interpret and follow a pre-set route at slow speeds, taking into account the terrain. Drivers are judged on their abilities to master these rugged terrains. These routes use lands belonging to estates and private individuals, from whom permission is sought by the BRC prior to each event.
In 2008, 4×4 off-road competitions were re-branded by The Barbados Rally Club. These included the navigational events as well as the new challenge events which had become known as Mud Fests. Hence, the Mud Dogs were born. From 2008 until the present, Mud Dog 4×4 Motorsport has been growing at a rapid rate.
